Agricultural University of Tirana Library ( AUTL) was founded in 1951 and has been the biggest center of agricultural documentation and information in Albania.

AUTL has a capacity of about 200.000 volumes (books, periodicals, and other holdings).
In 1995 supported by SARA and GTZ programs, the library started to upgrade its services into automated through a local network project.

However, with the turmoil of 1997, the entire library was completely burnt.

At present the technical equipment is minimal. The library's collection is limited compared to what it was before 1997, time in which everything was entirely destroyed.

Acquisitions

The library's book collection is about 15.000 volumes. AUTL has about 60 titles of foreign journals and 20 Albanian ones( 10.000 volumes), and 16 titles of Albanian newspapers. The library has 173 theses/dissertations.
