The Vice Rector for Science and Projects at the Agricultural University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Erinda Lika, has successfully fulfilled her role as National Focal Point within the framework of the international Startup10 project, making a direct contribution to strengthening the startup ecosystem in Albania.
In her capacity as National Focal Point, Prof. Dr. Lika ensured effective coordination among incubators, startups, national institutions, and the coordinating team of CIHEAM Bari, guaranteeing the implementation of all activities at the national level to high standards. Her role has been key from the preparation and publication of national calls, the transparent selection process of startups, the organization of mentoring and training sessions, to the development of the national pitching event and the final reporting.
Following the launch of national calls with broad participation, 7 innovative startups were selected, and over 100 mentoring and coaching sessions were delivered to support the development of business models, investment readiness, and the improvement of pitching skills. The process was carried out with full transparency and in accordance with the criteria of innovation, sustainability, and growth potential. An important dimension of the contribution was the close collaboration with the Startup Agency of Albania, establishing a framework for institutional cooperation and aligning the Startup10 activities with national priorities in entrepreneurship and innovation.
This approach has strengthened the ties between public institutions, the private sector, and universities, positioning Albania as a more credible actor within regional innovation networks. At the same time, as a representative of the Agricultural University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Erinda Lika has directly supported the Master’s program in Open Innovation and Youth Entrepreneurship by connecting students with real companies and concrete innovation projects. This interaction has reinforced the bridge between academia and industry, enhancing students’ practical skills and promoting a culture of entrepreneurship among young people.
The achieved results constitute a solid foundation for Albania’s future participation in international calls such as Horizon Europe and Erasmus+, as well as for the expansion of strategic partnerships in the Mediterranean region.
