The Rector of the Agricultural University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Fatbardh Sallaku, held a meeting with Prof. Dr. Carolien Kroeze, the Rector of Wageningen University & Research (WUR), Netherlands, one of the best universities in the world in the field of education and scientific research in the life sciences.
As one of the member universities in the European Association of Life Sciences Universities (ICA), where our university is a part along with BOKU University, the meeting discussed recent developments regarding the implementation of the UBT-BOKU 2030 reform and the possibility of involving Wageningen University (WUR) in various complementary activities in the future.
Our role as a university of life sciences was also discussed through the "Strategic Dialogue for the Future of the Agriculture and Food Sector" within the framework of Albania's negotiation process for EU membership.
In addition to the aforementioned issues, there was also discussion about the latest developments in the field of circular bioeconomy, the sustainable use of natural resources, environmental protection, and rural development, information technology in agriculture, and the need to strengthen this knowledge in the respective agendas of scientific research and academic offerings in the future.
Rector Kroeze and her team expressed their willingness for a team from Wageningen University (WUR) to visit the Agricultural University of Tirana (AUT) soon, with the aim of getting to know the developments at AUT up close and coordinating a plan of activities for the future.
Through this partnership with some of the most prestigious universities in the world in the field of life sciences, such as BOKU, Vienna and WUR, Netherlands, the Agricultural University of Tirana is increasingly demonstrating its academic and scientific values and quality, as well as its seriousness in successfully implementing the initiated reforms.
