AUT, part of the pilot project for the green transition in Dajti National Park

The Vice Rector for Public Relations, Associate Professor Romina Koto, presented to an audience of environmental program students the progress of the pilot case in Dajti National Park, within the framework of the Interreg Euro-MED “BauNOË” international project—an EU co-funded initiative aimed at promoting green areas and sustainable development.

In Dajti National Park, several concrete “green” solutions are currently being tested for direct use on the ground—such as the installation of solar-powered equipment (e.g. stations, lighting, or visitor facilities), the promotion of sustainable mobility (bicycles), as well as improvements in waste management and the management of natural resources.

During the presentation, environmental expert Abdulla Diku emphasized that the goal is to demonstrate in practice how a tourist and natural area can operate with less pollution, lower energy consumption, and greater use of renewable resources.

This presentation also addressed the core concepts of the green transition, which refers to the shift toward a sustainable and environmentally friendly economy through reducing pollution and CO₂ emissions, increasing the use of renewable energy, protecting biodiversity, and promoting sustainable economic development.

AUT is a key actor in promoting innovation and sustainable development in Albania, bringing European practices and contributing to the creation of a development model that places the environment and the community at its core.
