An informational meeting was held at the Faculty of Economics and Agribusiness of the Agricultural University of Tirana as part of the launch of the doctoral studies program in 'Economics and Agribusiness,' with the participation of new candidates, academic staff, and scientific researchers.
"The event was opened by the Vice Dean for Science and Projects, Associate Prof. Irma Tabaku, while the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Agribusiness, Prof. Dr. Remzi Keço, greeted the participants and emphasized the importance of developing scientific research as one of the key pillars of the faculty’s academic activity."
During the meeting, the criteria for obtaining the scientific degree “Doctor”, the program regulations, academic procedures, and the expectations for candidates were presented.
The program administrator for the doctoral studies, Prof. Dr. Ledia Thoma, presented the key elements of the organization of the studies, while Prof. Dr. Engjëll Skreli spoke about the role of scientific research and its impact on the development of the economic and agri-food sectors.
In the presentations, it was emphasized that scientific research is not merely the collection of information, but a systematic process aimed at providing answers to questions of importance for society and the economy.
Participants were introduced to the key steps of the research process, starting from identifying existing knowledge, recognizing gaps in the literature, studying the problem, and contributing new insights. In addition, the academic pathway that doctoral candidates are expected to follow was presented, which includes publishing in indexed scientific journals, participating in international conferences, conducting research internships at universities and research centers abroad, as well as adhering to academic integrity standards through plagiarism checks.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of the new doctoral students and their research interests, marking the beginning of a new stage in the training of future researchers and experts in the field of economics and agribusiness.
