At the Agricultural University of Tirana, the first day of the 18th joint Mission with BOKU University of Vienna was held. The Mission will take place from 26 to 28 January 2026 at AUT. This workshop focuses on finalizing new Master’s programs and three Bachelor’s programs, as part of the reform and modernization of AUT’s academic offer in line with European standards.
The first day of the activity opened with welcoming remarks from the Rector of the Agricultural University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Fatbardh Sallaku, and the representative of BOKU, Prof. Hubert Hasenauer, held at the premises of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The meeting was attended by the university leadership, faculty deans, and representatives of academic structures, reflecting broad institutional involvement in this process.
During the morning session, an update on the progress of the work was presented, followed by presentations of the new study programs, structured in accordance with the BOKU model.
The Working Group on Biotechnology and Food presented the Master’s programs in Food Engineering and Nutrition Science, while the Forestry and Wood Group presented the Master’s programs in Wood Technology and Design and Forest Ecosystem Management.
Subsequently, the Economics Group presented the Bachelor’s programs in Business Informatics and Finance–Accounting, as well as a broad package of Master’s programs in fields such as management, sustainable tourism, rural development, and food marketing, some of which are also planned as double-degree programs.
This mission marks an important step in deepening the strategic cooperation between AUT and BOKU, strengthening academic quality, European orientation, and the alignment of study programs with the contemporary needs of the labor market and sustainable development.
