The Agricultural University of Tirana hosted the inaugural event of the WFF Albania National Youth Chapter, a youth platform affiliated with the World Food Forum (WFF), a global initiative of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The event was organized by Sabina Imeri, an alumna of the Agricultural University of Tirana, as part of her involvement with the WFF Albania National Youth Chapter, with the support and academic coordination of lecturer Dr. Fatjon Hoxha.
Students, institutional representatives, and experts discussed the challenges and opportunities facing agri-food systems in Albania. The event also featured a presentation of the global World Food Forum (WFF) initiative and the role that national youth chapters play in empowering young people.
A central part of the event was the screening of the documentary film The Harvest (La Cosecha), which tells the story of a farming family and explores the challenges smallholder farmers face in accessing markets, adapting to climate change, and preserving intergenerational knowledge. Following the screening, participants shared their initial reactions and reflected on the themes raised by the film.
The agenda continued with an expert panel discussion, addressing issues related to the sustainability of agri-food systems, the role of young people in rural development, and the need for innovation in the agricultural sector.
Subsequently, participants were divided into three thematic working groups, where they discussed ideas and developed concrete proposals for engaging young people in addressing challenges related to climate change, food security, and rural development.
The event concluded with a commitment to continue building an active youth network that contributes to the transformation of agri-food systems in Albania.
