Empowering the Western Balkans with Geoinformation Technology

Welcome to the "Geoinformation Centre for the Western Balkans," a new initiative established by the Agricultural University of Tirana in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies, based in Halle (Saale), Germany. This Centre is made possible through funding from the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The mission of the Centre is to support the agricultural sectors of all Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia) in the EU accession process regarding the negotiation of Chapter 11 (Agriculture and Rural Development) by enhancing human capacities in spatial data analysis, the use of geographic information systems (GIS), and remote sensing technologies.
