BauNOW addresses the challenges of climate change and unsustainable development in urban and urban-rural areas of the Mediterranean (MED) region. The project promotes a shift towards a Green and Just Transition (GJT), fostering a resource-efficient economy and making sustainable development the new “Business as Usual” (BaU). The main objective is to enhance the capacities of public and private stakeholders to plan and finance measures supporting GJT for climate-neutral and resilient living areas. By adopting integrated practices and improving access to funding, the public and private sectors will recognize the economic and development potential of GJT as the new norm.
Pilot actions will test methodologies and directly benefit local communities by improving public services for GJT :
1. Accessible mobility for GJT: Kočevje, SI
2. Role of carbon community schemes: Marseilles, FR
3. Info and knowledge points for GJT: Koprivnica-Križevci County, HR
4. Protected areas as GJT drivers: Tirana, Dajti National Park, AL
5. Solar cooperatives: Cazin, BA
6. Regional microfinance schemes: Legrad, HR
7. Stakeholder co-creation and engagement through new-generation hackathons: Bologna, IT
8. Co-creation of knowledge in support of Green and Just Transition and delivering new generation of education approaches: Green and Just Transition Road Show - Mobile University Learning Programme: Podgorica, MNE
The project targets the general public across green living areas and urban-rural regions, driving inclusive and sustainable development in the MED region.
BauNOW Project Meeting was organized on 3-4 December 2024 in Ravne na Koroškem. In this meeting participated Professor from the Agricultural University of Tirana as Project Partner (PP10) members of the project staff. AUT (PP10) has been focused to work on the investment and data about the pilot case to insert in the dashboard. A very important point was to work on the methodology and how to organize the project pilot case. Also, during the meeting was discussed how AUT will try to lobby with the investor for the pilot case in Dajti Mountain National Park. Some of the output for this period was the SWOT analysis, define the investment, pilot actions implementation overview, project management, dashboard information, setting next steps.
